63\100 [Original Mix]
82\100 [Syzz Remix]
Revealed Recordings began 2018 in a strange way. “Glow”, the first release of the year from the Dutch label was not exactly what the fans were expecting… However, Revealed managed this “unusual” style of music by presenting an “alternative community remix” by Syzz.
We are talking about “Glow”, the new relaxing tune crafted by two Revealed veterans, Paris & Simo. Their main genre has always been progressive house, but in this case, we are talking about tropical house. The singer is Nikon, a new name for us but definitely a talented artist. His voice is emotional, passionate and catchy, it fits well with the relaxing vibes of the tune.
Talking about the base created by Paris & Simo, we were expecting way better from them. It does its job, but nothing more. It misses the personality that the Canadian duo always brought to the scene, it’s quite generic a job from them. In addition, the genre of the song doesn’t fit well with Revealed sound.
Tropical house? That’s an unusual genre for Hardwell’s label!
However, Revealed perfectly managed to solve this last “problem” with a clever move. As previously done with a couple of tracks in 2017, if there are unusual releases, the label publishes along a classic Revealed style remix to balance this fact. In this way, both new and old fans can enjoy their favourite style. It happened, for example, with “Insanity”. It was a future bass release, including a Suyano progressive remix. In this case, another veteran duo put his hands on “Glow”.
Syzz, the two Dutch producers that delighted the fans with “Donut” a few months ago, now they delivered a splendid electro version of the song. This was another surprise: the duo usually produces progressive house, and, because of the chilly mood of the original, this was the easiest solution. However, Syzz decided to disassemble the original atmosphere, bringing a powerful electro house feeling to “Glow”. The buildup, innovative and original, quickly makes things clear, unlike the chill version.
The drop features a splendid Syzz lead, distorted in a big room way, and crazy drums. It hits you with a ferociousness that it’s hard to expect. The hyper-distorted melody in the break, in addition, make sure to make this remix extremely strong and wild.
In conclusion, we have two versions of “Glow”. One is relaxing, one is ferocious. Our personal pick goes to the creative work by Syzz, one of their best remixes ever, but we suggest to enjoy the original version too, where Nikon vocal does its job in a splendid way!
