DAZZ , Ellie Sax, Jessica Chertock – Scatman (Love Me Loud)

November 10, 20202 min read

• A brilliant rework
• Future House twist on the original
• Newer take on an earlier Future Bounce version

Summer is far gone on this cold wintry day of November, but DAZZ, Ellie Sax and the upcoming vocalist Jessica Chertock crafted to bring forth some warming tropical vibes in my room! I am excited to talk about “Scatman (Love Me Loud)”, which, as the title denotes, is a modern Future House take on the Eurodance classic from the iconic Scatman John. Many other versions have been done, in particular the Da Tweekaz version. But this edit, it stands out from the rest!

Let’s introduce our protagonists. You may already be acquainted to DAZZ, a talented Future House producer from Germany. His style is combination of the animated “Mesto-ish” Future House, with right amounts of tropical and relaxing influences sprinkled in the recipe. He teamed up with the mentioned songstress, and together they “reworked” the rework done by Ellie Sax.

Yes, you have read that clear. Two years ago, the British saxophonist remixed the evergreen in a similar Future Bounce way. The 2020 version has slight DAZZ vibes and Chetock’s performance, but the outcome is somewhat parallel and alike.

Personally, I think that this “re-branding” added a layer of professionalism to the package. The mix sounds cleaner, with the expected tropical feels, smoothly blending in with the high sax notes. Even if we can’t hear the amusing and the timeless original vocal here, I think that this somehow fits this modernistic scenario better: only the catchy melody remains.

I openly loathe lazy spinoffs, where some big names just buy the rights (sometimes not even legitimately clear) for a recognisable hook from the past eras, and stick it on a generic rattling bassline to get their share of a million listens. Au contraire, “Scatman” received a brilliant twist from three talented creators, each one of them embedding their skills to an extraordinary output. A perfect team-up!
