Overused – Boom

Since we have talked about Puregold design today, I think it’s natural to give you an example of their good music!
I’m proud to show you “Boom”, an explosive bass house track from the Austrian duo Overused.

I’m not a big fan of the genre, but I’m starting to like its dark and aggressive sound, and how a lot of producers are reworking it. “Boom” is a good example of a creative way to see this particular genre, to think outside the box and experimenting. In fact, the break has an interesting hip-hop vocal that immediately impressed me. Its catchiness is stunning, and I loved how the duo used a creative lead, something a bit anxious but perfect for creating the right mood.

Unfortunately for the good break, my favorite part is the drop. I wasn’t expecting that! Overused created a powerful drop, while keeping a slow and efficient rhythm. It’s not too noisy and chaotic, or repetitive as many other songs, it’s clever. With a complex scheme, it was difficult to find the right harmony, but Overused played well their cards.

The result is a clean and tidy drop, with the right bass house aggressiveness and an insane melody. It hypnotized me. My favorite detail was the fill, that “ding” made me laugh the first time I heard it but it’s a great idea! It’s impossible to expect.

In few words, “Boom” is the right compromise between a strong tune and a creative idea. Well done guys!
