Our analysis of the futuristic and innovative Magnificence EP on Axtone

May 15, 20183 min read

Taking greater strides towards success, the Netherlands based power duo Magnificence has been making crucial moves in the industry. With various releases, spacing from progressive house to groovy productions, the talented Dutch pair have also demonstrated their versatility. Unveiling an intense and well-made EP on none other than Axtone, they have taken a step further to prove their eminence in the scene. While we have already talked about one of the constituent production of the EP (Cobra), today we will be talking about a synopsis. Containing three unique and striking tunes, let us see what this EP truly has to offer.

1. Cobra

78/100

As we already talked about in the previous review of this particular track, this one aims to domineer in festival gigs with its powerful features. Having following bass-heavy schematics, it also included tribal and usual groove components to enhance the platter. Even if the simplistic arrangement questions the energy, but in actuality, it works quite well.
Overall, an above average work from Magnificence, starting the EP in a precise manner.

2. Fire (ft. Seth Hills)

83/100

Even if not straying much further away from Cobra’s sound, this collaboration with Dutch luminary Seth Hills promises power from the second it starts. Emphasising on aggressive components, the breakdown exploits vocal snippets, while the drop exhibits experimental and groovy rhythms. Incorporating screeching bass house synths, it steps up the game with unpredictable melody.
In all, “Fire” keeps the continuation to “Cobra”, sort of like a sequel. Nice addition to the EP!

3. Out Of My Mind (ft. Steff Da Campo)

84/100

Taking inspiration from Cobra again, the resultant of team-up of well-known Steff Da Campo and Magnificence, is none other than an electro house tune with experiments. Even though “Out Of My Mind” felt as slightly minimal with the breakdown, the drop is where the score is made. With acid like electro synths, the solid rhythm effectively generates stamina. With an effective but simplistic drop melody, the synth riff and the percussion go hand in hand, delivering vigour and strength with efficacy.
The final extension to the EP concludes it properly, showcasing the expected ardour and zing.

Concluding, it would be fair enough to say that the three tracks, in total, sum up to give something way more than decent and mediocre, if not excellent. Magnificence created a sort of “Puzzle”, with three compositions that, taken alone, are very good, but altogether they result in a fantastic structure! The choice of releasing the tunes with a week of distance has been harmful, in our opinion, but the final work is notable and a must-listen!
