Today I want to present you a beautiful remix by Mickey Valen. First of all, if you don’t know this great artist, I suggest checking his discography here… It won’t disappoint you.

The trap producer remixed “Gucci Store” by Madalen Duke, a young Canadian pop singer. The original, which you can listen to here, has been a hit, reaching more than 400k plays on Soundcloud, but in my opinion, there is a big problem.

The vocal is not valorized enough in comparison with the base. This detail is particularly evident after having heard the Mickey Valen version, which is perfect under a connective point of view. The artist has perfectly managed to give enough importance to the Madalen Duke vocal, with a couple of clever choices.

You can immediately hear that the mood has become more funky and energetic. The kick and the frenetic hi-hats create a strong atmosphere, rhythmic and catchy, and the vocal is dancing over it. Mickey Valen made a trap remix, but considering it “trap” is reductive. There are pop elements in here, but in the right amount. 

The drop is awesome too! I loved the use of vocal chops here, and in particular the choice of using an aggressive bass. It may seem unconnected, since “Gucci Store” is a calm tune, but it works, it adds that little more power that makes it fantastic!

In conclusion, once again Mickey Valen dropped a superb song! His remix is, in my opinion, better than the original, and I’m pretty sure it will become a hit!
