“Powermove” can be summarized with a word: “Woah“. In the drop, very particular, this word seems to be repeated in an infinite loop, creating a hypnotic bass house atmosphere interrupted only by powerful metallic fills.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but it reminds me the popular Crash meme, even if it sounds different.
I may be wrong, but if I can pick a word to describe “Powermove”, well… It should be “Woahwoahwoahwoah”.
“Woah” is the sound of my reaction when I’ve heard it the first time at UMF, too.
My favorite song the EP is finally out, an incredible electro\bass collaboration between Hardwell and MOKSI. The Dutch duo is part of the Barong Family (Yellow Claw label, focused on trap\underground music), and I quite like their music, actually!
As I discovered, the two members were friends of Hardwell for a long time, that’s why they worked together!
Even if I’m used to the uncommon sounds of MOKSI, this collab is unexpected and a total surprise!
I’m not even sure about its genre! It’s mainly bass house, but with heavy electro influences in the drop and a particular “vintage” break.
Whan a huge amount of creativity we have here!
I particularly love the collab because of its capacity of always surprising the listener, during every second, with clever ideas and creative details. Plus, as the title clearly shows, it’s incredibly powerful and aggressive!
The break, as said, is old-school. Well, kinda. It starts in a weird way (with a long and slightly creepy scream), and then we have a really cool lead! It reminds me the garage music of 90’s, but being unique it’s both vintage and futuristic…. After that, we have a curious buildup, powerful but without a perfect transition.
“Powermove” is a courageous track, far from Hardwell typical style. But it works. You may hate it or love it, as me, but I’m sure it will share with you some feelings. I love it, I’m amazed by its insane strength and catchy rhythm, and I hope it will be the same for you too!
Woahwoahwoahwoahwoahwoah!
