Hardwell feat. Haris – What We Need

The third release of the “Hardwell & Friends EP Vol. 2” is an amazing progressive tune called “What We Need”.
The Dutch producer collaborated once again with the singer Haris (already heard in “Survivor” and “Nothing Can’t Hold Us“), and the result is splendid!

I was expecting “What We Need”. It was a long-awaited ID and I’m finally satisfied to having it on HQ.
It’s now, with a good quality version, that the Dutch singer can finally show us his talent. The whole song is focused on valorizing Haris voice, with a calm base and an emotional drop.

I personally loved the breakdown… Simple, relaxing, and elegant. There is a nice electric guitar in the second part, but the main element is a calm piano and a good main lead (dominant in the buildup). Even if the lyrics are not sensational, the vocal fits perfectly with the background. Haris definitively did his best.

“What We Need” becomes more powerful in the drop part… Maybe too much. I didn’t like the kick, too fat and dominant in comparison with the lead. The melody is pretty catchy, luckily, and I quite enjoyed it. Sure, not the best melody in Hardwell’s discography, but more than average.

In conclusion, for me “What We Need” is a good track, thanks to Haris in particular. The song has been built around his voice, and Hardwell managed well in the task of valorizing it. Best vocal of the EP.
