Blasterjaxx – Moonlight Sonata Festival I

October 3, 20213 min read

• Collaboration with Deezer for “Beethoven Remixed” compilation
• Features their former sound
• Dash of classical with a mainstage component

Today, the Den Haag based pair Blasterjaxx is back at it again with another mammoth of a single, “Moonlight Sonata”. Recently they had released a five track EP, “Welcome To Mystica”, continuously with other releases. They also recently presented “Saga”, a follow-up to “Children Of Today”, which is the final chapter after collaborating with singer/songwriters Junior Funke.

But now, they planned to re-release the track as the streaming brand Deezer published a compilation titled as ‘Beethoven Remixed’. It features numerous Electronic heavyweights such as Steve Aoki, NERVO, Mariana Bo and more. The said artists crafted their sound by combining the classical melody and turning it into a dance floor anthem. Included among them was “Moonlight Sonata”, also accompanied by a three-minute radio edit.

Being a part of the compilation, they debuted this track at a livestream in Germany. First thing you would hear in this set was the intro including the recognizable piano riff, which they commenced as the introduction for their live-set, continuing to première the rest of the new IDs. The last drop was quite decent as they recycled it from an earlier one. Then, W&W further tested the track by adding this segment for a mashup for their alter ego project, InterGalactic, during the Club Mythic live stream.

Speaking about the drop, they went for their older pluck-heavy sound, something I admired extremely. Candidly speaking, this is perhaps their best remix so far from this year, and a welcome change from their usual schedule that consists of singles and synergies mostly. Thankfully this has officially been uploaded as a single, which gives them a great chance for a marketing strategy along with avoiding pesky copyright removal.

They fairly understood significance of the job they were taking, and delivered a mainstage anthem that pays an homage to a historical piece of music. “Moonlight Sonata” is an amazing weapon that hopefully gets tested out in coming festivals and club-gigs!
