• Both label and the group comeback in the scene!
• Meaningful lyrics
• Fetching rhythm, fusion of styles
After a four months of unexplained radio-silence, reputed brand Size Records has made a wild entry with a new track from, wait for it, an acclaimed group who also disappeared from the scene (same as Project 46) couple of years ago. The quartet have broke their hiatus with their newest tune “FACE (s) IT”, projecting reflection of what they have been going through since last year. If this alias doesn’t ring a bell, they happened to collaborate with the label-head Steve Angello himself back in 2018, making their reappearance even more intriguing a case.
Rocking the standard duration of nowadays, that being around 180 seconds, “FACE (s) IT” is a single that infuses multiple ingredients from distinctive styles to create one experimental “Frankenstein”. We have nice dosage of huge bassline, a sweet guitar, a grunge rap-influenced vocal and typical Bass House additives.
The vocal performance takes the edge strongly, with constant dynamic of rap-flow and rock star type voice delivered by the vocalist (also keeping itself to more commercial roots). I want to highlight on how the rhythm is properly utilized, adhering to the same catchiness with volume adjustments for each part, finally presenting an orchestral vocal snippet on top.
It is a solid work, but be ready to face some repetitiveness in the experience, with this one looping itself constant for nearly 80% of the time (more like two drops and an interlude between them), but it is enjoyable and dance-able without doubt.
Reputed team Highly Sedated has marked a new entrée with a near blockbuster opening, fitting the Size catalogue like a champ, while having a deep message of the drastic things that occurred over duration of the last year.
