Tech House? I am definitely not the right person to comment on any tracks from the genre, committing to it only in rarest of circumstances. Yet, while listening to one of the promo submissions, “Legends” from Cyrus Khan and Launo was something that captured my attention instantly. A snappy and energetic instrumental, it was what I was subconsciously craving for.
You heard it right. The very industry of Tech House isn’t in my preference, since most mainstream records lack the zeal and passion by being blatantly linear… but with its hefty bassline, “Legends” comforts my wishes. The creators involved, the said duo, have both presented impressive releases on minor imprints such as “Bouncin” (indicative of the pair’s attraction towards darker bass synthesis) and the wonderful “Come Back”, where Launo formulates brutal chords supported by gospel vocals to a funky degree.
So, how does it fare? There’s a tinge of Future House influence in the break, after which a Fisher-like lead gets introduced, always with measured doses of stamina. The melody is repetitive, obviously considering the style, so I focused on the percussions, which slowly evolved until culminating in the complexity of the finale.
If there’s any recommendation I have for this week, it’s this tech-y endeavour. Packed with a surplus groove, it drew admiration from someone who doesn’t devote to this genre. If you agree, I am open to more suggestions!
