Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, KSHMR – Reunion (with Alok & Zafrir)

August 23, 20212 min read

• Repetitive and tiring vocal
• Generic slappy drop
• Not so much differentiable styles, considering the names involved

Hi everyone! We are back in such a good shape (honestly no, I have gained weight this summer) and with energy to review the latest EDM tracks out this week. I thought this comeback would be positive but, honestly, I cannot miss this “dollar collab” with Free Fire as the mastermind of this. After multiple releases for the mobile game, now, for the 4th anniversary they decided to unite all the producers in one, tiring and generic Slap House tune.
“Reunion” is tiring, boring and friendly. Apart of being a hymn in the Free Fire community is also a Spotify-friendly release with no soul and an unbalanced mix of styles. I can notice KSHMR, Alok and Zafrir’s touch but the Belgian brothers look like they didn’t do nothing for this.

We talked about the Free Fire-EDM collab before and how profitable are for both producers and the Singaporean brand Garena. Since profit is the objective here, I found unbearable how forced “Reunion” is, with a bunch of huge names together and such a predictable and trendy sound. It will probably go viral on Tik Tok and Youtube, I won’t be surprised.

At least, “Vale Vale” and “One More Round” had energy and personality, but “Reunion” is a huge step back for the artists involved. Sad to see those talented producers (No, DV&LM I am not talking to you) avoiding putting efforts in their music.
