Corona – Rhythm Of The Night (Perry Wayne Remix)

• Festival-oriented version
• Stunning bassline
• Refreshing a classic

I remember of a specific review we did recently of “Bring Me To Life”, a modern magnum opus from Evanescence, done by Flynninho and gotlucky. It was a classic brought to life with a quality that is deemed necessary for this sort of works. Since we missed classics so much, Perry Wayne heard our wishes and remixed another one of our all-time favourites: the Eurodance anthem of “Rhythm of the Night” from the Italian ensemble Corona.

A problem we have with this bunch of re-edits is that working on an audience endeared vintage is equivalent of doing a hit-or-miss work, hence risky. If things don’t fit accordingly, the remix may receive a lot of popularity while the result would earn notoriety to its producer(s). Some opportunities have instilled faith on this trend, while others (I prefer not to mention here again the cash-grab attempts) are not worth anyone’s time.

Keeping aside all this precautionary thoughts aside, it is safe to state that Perry Wayne did a solid number on this song and readying it for the festivals (hoping to party again sooner) with a hulking drop presence, a personal trademark of his. The American producer approached with the typical formula that ensures success: start with the famous vocals, add some euphoric elements and conclude with a brutal drop that stuns the listener.

The vox start rising up with an updated catchy melody that fits like a glove, although the build-up remains on predictable territory with those loud kicks and the “silence before the storm”. I must admit however, the weight of this tune is carried mostly by the drop, as the intense bassline are powerful enough with dub elements crafted uniquely for this scenario.

It is a cool version, as both drops are similar and heavily influences from the Deathstep style. While I don’t comprehend why the track abruptly stops with the iconic singing, as it might be a problem pertaining to SoundCloud. This is not a deal-breaker, and not relevant in the prior listening experience.

Perry Wayne crafted a dynamic interpretation befit for festival grounds, and if you are a producer, for your mashups. It is not a twist that would appease everyone, but for Dubstep fans, this is just the thing they might be searching!
