• Great vocal with repetitive lyricism
• Euphoric variant of Hardstyle
• Well execution of pauses before the drops
If there was something that has drawn my constant admiration, then the quality Hardstyle manufactured by LNY TNZ is one of them. The Dutch Producer has always managed to bring excellent melodies to the platter, and kicks which have driven me crazy multiple instances. Focusing on his imprint FVCK GENRES, LNY TNZ has skillfully skipped around many common clichés of this style, blending together different influences to avoid monotonous works. An apt example would be the recent “Mariachi EP” with Mariana Bo, which had inspirations from Latino music. Anyways, my focus today will be on a more standard production, which I loved to the point it got nominated as my monthly pick.
“Light Up Your Life” is a collaboration with the Jamaican singer NYANDA, and the ingenious approach towards melodic Hardstyle captured my attention. Jamaican vocalist often bring Reggae-ish vibes, but in this case it is more textbook. Undoubtedly NYANDA does a beautiful job in striking vibrancy to the instrumental, albeit the repetitive structure of songwriting is present. This idea did not impressed totally, even if the outcome is enjoyable to extents. LNY TNZ however, supports the mentioned voice with an incredible harmonic structure. This is the sole reason I am fond of his records; added with sudden periods of silence before the drop which adds unpredictability. Going from a calm playful nature to heightened anthem-like mood, the following segment comes with distorted kicks. Another thing I noticed was how the genre elements do not overwhelm, and with clever arrangements, drives the same laid-back attitude with bit more pizazz and rhythm.
Even if I am more approving of “out of the box” ideas, this track shows the innovative mindset LNY TNZ has. Without going insane on certain details, this composition manages to hit the right note, thanks to the polished job involved. A refreshing addition to Basscon Records, more such will be certainly welcomed!
