• Hooking vocal snippet
• Energetically driven bassline
• Pleasant atmospheric elements
Many known musicians have chosen to keep their identity under wraps, which has amplified their branding to many folds. We encountered upon such an individual, who upstarted this year on Future House Cloud. Going by the nom de guerre of OffLicense, the arcane producer’s latest offering “Life” has us hooked, thanks to its consummate and alluring schematics.
A newer trend has emerged in the House music scene lately, where a nifty combination of Brazilian Bass and Deep House has led to an upbeat outcome, outlandishly christened as “Slap House”. Much of it can be traced from Lithuania HQ and Dynoro, who moulded their sounds around this leading to its popularity. Obviously, as usual, there have been far too many similar-sounding numbers, aided by the heavy sampling of earlier classics to gain popularity.
Among this, OffLicense caught our attention with his productions. Most discernibly, his resonant and metallic bassline operates on rhythmic off-kilter riffs are the centre of attraction. “Life” upholds a dreamy vibe, along with the hooking vocal snippet. Next to this, we get the drop which utilizes the cited low-end synths, ready to be recognised as a trademarkable signature. Furthermore, adding a vintage presence is a retro-ish synth, which repels any staleness!
To conclude, “Life” has made us equally anxious for upcoming works from this cryptic but certainly skilful personality.
