Laureano – Looking At Me (ft. Maline)

April 3, 20202 min read

• Playful and lightsome tone
• Well-arranged hook segment
• Absorbing vocal performance

Past December, prior all of this debacle occurring, we happened to talk of one specific artist from Sweden, Laureano. He has shown his mettle for tailoring finesse compositions, ranging between dance and the popular segments of music. This Friday, he teamed up with native adept songstress Maline, the synergy of which has come up with “Looking At Me”. Basing itself on colourful hooks and a creative beat, the song heads with a pizzazz.

Stumbling on his expanding discography preceding year, we immediately loved the polished and avant-garde House-y structure in “Think Twice”. Furthermore, the main attraction in the mentioned instrumental had to be the unorthodox, but effectual vocal-snippet driven hook. The low-end dynamics share solid chemistry with the rest, earmarking this creation for the clubs and radio-play alike!

An interesting thing to note before beginning to pen about today’s highlight is the side involvement from Yaro, who happened to provide his insights into preceding works from the mentioned act. Starting with a heady concoction of alluring vocal and atmospheric synths, “Looking At Me” keeps cadence with a subdued kick. Delays put aside, the drop brings a frolicking mood: with synths adopting syncopated riffs, aided by the compleat vocal duty from Maline. Denying further complexities, this segment absorbs attention with minimal but well-placed elements!

In a few concluding words, “Looking At Me” avoids textbook electronic-pop cliches, demonstrating quality songwriting and grabby composing details!
