The Notorious ‌”Copy-Pasters”.

April 4, 20202 min read

It’s unnervingly difficult to keep a calm tone while penning this article, but today we want to discuss a particular group of people we dislike the most.

The infamous ‌”Copy-Pasters”.

One would know that most big artists are using marketing agencies for submitting their songs to promotional networks, including blogs. These agencies attach “press releases” to their submissions, a brief description of the artist and the song in a professional tone. Furthermore, it’s useful when you need data about the release or back story about the artist. Nothing wrong about it,

Some “blogs”, for timely reasons or for sheer indolence, simply carbon copy these press releases. They are pretty easy to spot: you can simply paste a sentence of their review on Google and find unbelievable amounts of such plagiarism. It’s comical sometimes, but the reality is bitter. The existence of these blogs is absolutely infuriating for us. The point of having a blog is to have the freedom to explain your opinion, whether it is praise or criticism, to give content to readers that are spending their time reading your articles. Replicating emotionless descriptions is pure blasphemy for passionate reviewers in this scene.

Why are we talking about them, considering that we always avoid mentioning other blogs and focus on what we like?

It’s for giving advice to our artists here, and another one to our general audience.

Dear artists, we highly suggest preparing some lines about your track before submitting to blogs, even if they aren’t “Copy-pasters”. There is a lot of work behind reviews, and knowing requisite info aids with writing a better review. It adds more context and depth, making it less generic and in turn more people like it!

Dear fans, pay attention to who you are following. Copy-pasting may be forgivable in case of unexpected problems or writers’ blocks, but there are entire websites built over other peoples’ write-ups. Authentic writing deserves the support instead!
