Krustex – Only Now

March 5, 20202 min read

• Sweet, delicate vocal sample, well used
• Calm break, calmly transitioning into a powerful drop
• Excellent start of the year with two quality releases

A single mistake could be forgiven, but I am not going to ignore Krustex for a second time! His tribalroom release on TMS (called “Bombay“) has impressed me some weeks ago, and I’m taking the chance to speak about this interesting newcomer, who has just released “Only Now” on Madox Network. I’m not the only one into his music, by the way: Nicky Romero has supported “Only Now”, adding it to his Spotify playlist.

Krustex is Swedish, and that country know how to make good progressive house! He slightly reminds me of 2015’s KAAZE, because of the vocal sample used and the melodic pattern; nonetheless this young artist is extremely versatile. Looking at his short discography, we can also find dubstep and the already mentioned January release, “Bombay”. With two rather important debuts, Krustex began his 2020 with a bang!

I had a beautiful experience with “Only Now”: its dynamic structure wisely alternates with some delicate moments… The central breakdown, including a super-sweet vocal and a calm piano, is an amazing segment, where a soft, peaceful atmosphere slowly transitions into an energetic drop. In my humble opinion, the balance between the two vibes is absolutely on point! I also must mention the melody, a real pleasure for my tired ears!

Krustex is still at the beginning of his path, but he has already convinced me, first with “Bombay” and now with “Only Now”. The way he managed his own atmosphere here, changing mood when necessary and delivering an entertaining outcome, showed already some signs of experience. I’m teaming up with Nicky: Krustex is a name to keep an eye on.

Sometimes we find real gems on Madox’s catalogue: “Only Now” is one of them.
