• Surprising use of the distorted vocal
• Captivating, powerful drop
• Impressive result for a debut release!
“My Heart” is one of these little gems that are capable to penetrate my cold heart with their warm atmosphere. Despite being a bit generic, the title has been chosen wisely!
Today I present you a great debut release by the German producer Masix, out now via Tuneart Records, a local label. I’ve immediately been impressed by the energetic approach of the debutant… The first official release is always a delicate challenge for a newcomer.
Exam passed, in my humble opinion.
“My Heart” explores the boundaries of the genre with a really particular vocal… Distorted, but not exaggeratedly pitched: just a delicate, yet curious, editing. It’s a vocal that I can’t really define, because in the breakdown is almost following its own rhythm, slowing down the whole song before the captivating pre-drop.
In substance, Masix slowly changed the structure of “My Heart”, orienting the listener’s attention towards the unique vocal, thanks to a really minimal breakdown, and then turned the tables with a sudden progressive house twist. It was almost a mystical moment because I wasn’t prepared for that change of atmosphere.
Speaking about the drop, we have here a well-crafted structure, with a powerful bassline and a simple, yet effective melody. I felt that something could have been added in the section, but the whole composition is very clean, thus I enjoyed the final effect!
I don’t have many pieces of information about Masix, but his debut “My Heart” provided interesting elements and I’ll surely keep an eye on him. There is potential here!
