• Standout vocal, accompanied by piano
• Slower rhythm, ode to old-school Prog
• Slight Future Rave add-ons!
Felippe Mela isn’t a familiar name to me, yet his attempt on Future Rave has convinced me firmly to write a few lines, as it has impressive results to show!
With a few indie releases on his discography (recommendations: “Free At Last”, which samples an inspiring speech), the Greco-Swedish producer is slowly building his influence on the trending genre, modifying the usually attributed aggressiveness into something delicate yet surprisingly sprightly and moving.
“Winter’s Kiss” aligns on a simpler bassline, taking its time to amalgamate with the emotional vocal. It could be old-school Progressive House, the type I would find on Enhanced, but there’s the danceable Future Rave lead in there spicing up the recipe! The aftermath is what I prefer to find when exploring new talents: a smooth blend of the old and upcoming styles, in a simple yet effective strategy to make it impacting enough.
And let’s talk about the vocals! Even if I haven’t ascertained of the vocalist involved, the performance sold me: it’s a cold atmosphere (thus the title), with an unhurried and melancholic tone going on, fitting perfectly with the songstress’ voice! In a few calmer sequences, a piano supports the schema: a wise pick from Felippe Mela to combine a layer of elegance to the entire ensemble.
“Winter’s Kiss” is a fresh, or better yet, a relaxing take on the traditional Progressive House! I had a great feeling with this one, and surely many other will as well!
