Arsen ft. Chris Ponate – Open Your Eyes

• Appealing vocal presence
• Ariose drop section
• Prototypal sound selection

The up and coming record label Exposed has harboured a variety of rising artists in recent years, and they have another worth-mentioning composition for the second last month of this decade. This time, the Spanish composer Arsen has come up with a melodic driven instrumental, titled as “Open Your Eyes” alongside vocalist Chris Ponate.

We have mentioned Arsen numerous times before, in recaps and stand-alone reviews for his productions. We talked about him during the summery month of May, when one of our team member Beatmad teamed-up for a vocal Progressive song named “Today Is What I Live For” on Revealed Recording’s community imprint. Our previous speed-round article also referred to his recent canorous creation “Psyche”, a collaboration with Blackcode and Joye Mill on TurnItUp Muzik.

Now turning our attention to Exposed’s latest pick for their discography, we are ushered into the production with a theatrical breakdown and resonating vocal presence. The orchestral components and a subtle piano presence take the duty of assisting the warm voice. A rising tone oversees the swift transition between this segment to the louder and more intense one. With that, the drop bursts in with a memorable hook, whose content is right choice of high and low notes. Coming over to the sound department, there are prototypical layers of chiming and rushing bassline synths. However, we didn’t feel any dearth of energy or vitality because of this, and rather believe a commendable job was done when it comes to the quality.

So, does “Open Your Eyes” leave a good impression? Absolutely. Can we go as further as saying it had experimental arrangements as say “Inception”? Perhaps not, but nonetheless we found this record to be ear-pleasant and certainly thriving.
