November 14, 20193 min read

• Everything fits, in a complex yet entertaining composition
• Significant trio, efficient show of styles
• Rework of a classic club-weapon by Sequenza

No, you haven’t misread. The driving reason for a solid ninety to this is because of the fact I’m finally happy to see an essential collaboration that has been made because the people involved actually had an interesting motif, and not just the desire or inclination to make hype. “Tricky Tricky” is, in addition being an absolute banger, a genial concept. I’ve never had so much listening pleasure in MONTHS.

I’ll save the lengthy presentations, as our readers would be very well aware of W&W, Will Sparks and Timmy Trumpet, three of the heavyweight creators in the both of underground and festival EDM domains. They have meticulously reworked “Tricky Tricky”, a decennary rave production by the reputed German DJ Sequenza.

While I wasn’t aware of its existence previously, listening to it I immediately understood why it had been the chosen candidate to be reworked, among thousands other classics. It fits perfectly with Timmy Trumpet’s style, having similar components to his all-time hit “Freaks“. But wait, that was not what took the cake, the trumpets outshine in this as well! Adding his signature instrument was an efficacious move, transforming the overall result into natural and organic-sounding! Thus, I don’t think that this production blatantly copied “Freaks” (as the thought that would have crossed the mind), but rather only an intelligent move based on a similarity.

Then, Will Sparks introduces his Psy-Trance drop, adopting an outstanding quality and even daring to endeavour with something complex, such as the melody. And it’s not even my favorite section of the song! W&W strike the iron right when it is hot, with a pulsating Psy-Trance-Big Room hybrid of a drop in the end. It was a moment of pure and undiluted contentment. The crowd-reaction to has further proved its soaring intensity.

Honestly, I have leaned dangerously towards being prosaic and insipid, thanks to the recent releases that are dull, linear, and without a “wow” feeling into it. Writing about this piece has reminded me unfailingly of how I enjoy reviewing riveting compositions in Dance music.

I was expecting the customary arrangements, but I’ve been only delighted and enthralled with this experience. It’s a synergy where every artist tailored his part enthusiastically, and all these pieces fused together like in a well-oiled mechanism. Risks have been taken, without retorting to banality. With this said, I express my gratitude to these guys.
