• Heavy distortions on the vocal
• Shape-shifting creative drop
• A dynamic and entertaining experience
Future house isn’t impressing me lately. Many producers aren’t evolving their styles, or they jumped on the “wobbling drop” bandwagon, making it overused. Zonderling made this style famous, and, considering that I was already bored by it when he was alone, you can imagine my annoyance at this moment.
Luckily, the trio Derric-VJS-Blanee crafted something fresh, a real festival banger that gave me good vibes! They are new to me (that’s VJS debut, Blanee has various solid future house releases and Derric has a couple of beautiful tracks on Hoop Records and SF), but I made sure to add their names to my watchlist.
An infusion of aggressive future bounce into a sparkling, shape-shifting wobbling lead (standing out from the general mass), and voilà. I have gained back some hope towards this overused structure.
Let’s be honest here, “Galaxy” is unique. The drop is a concentration of volatility, unpredictability, and entertainment! The melody may be a bit difficult to follow, but if you are into complex schemes like me, you will love it. There are some obvious Brooks and Zonderling influences, but these Italian artists added a lot of personality to the composition.
The addition of distortions in the beautiful vocal is another exciting element I notice, adding a certain trap vibe in the breakdown (which features the characteristic percussions). Excellent job in this segment, I wasn’t expecting that!
Strange Fruits released a gem, this time! Their catalog’s so vast that I never have time to search into it with attention, and this may be a problem for “Galaxy”. I hope that many people will notice its perks, maybe after reading this review.
