• Percussion driven sound
• Minimal yet energetic approach
• Refreshing and creative schematics
Like any plebeian summer, this year has also provided us some tantalizing Dance hits from heavyweights and uprising names in the industry. However, our concern will rather be directed on a productive remix of a summer-hit, none other from the native Colombian DJ/Producer MOSKA. After his successful string of releases on the Dutch label of Musical Freedom, the young talent has attracted the label head’s attention several times. Reworking on the recent chart-buster track “Ritual”, Moska has added his own aggressive and energetic House-y vibe to the delectable work. The result is a percussion-laden and fast-paced twist on the otherwise alluring track, which adds a whole another twist to the song!
Talking about the original work, the resultant of the massive team-up between the Dutch hotshot Tiesto and the accomplished British hit-maker, Jonas Blue, has stirred a large fraction of the audience. “Ritual” includes best of both worlds – A charming and dominating vocal presence from Rita Ora, who has built a solid reputation lately in the pop industry. And not to forget the noteworthy instrumental, where the grandiose piano and the slick guitar riff captures appreciation and attention like anything. Nonetheless, we were stoked for a multi-faceted remix EP, and sure it did happen. The package came with involvement of up and coming names like Jonas Aden, David Puentez, SWACQ and even the illustrious Italian artist Benny Benassi. Although the other re-works are equally splendid, the dynamic Cali native made sure to embed his signature vibe, making it strikeout. This didn’t come entirely unexpected or as a surprise to us, since a brief look on his SoundCloud page reveals a whole ton of other meticulous remixes and bootlegs. Definitely a worthy inclusion along with the other ones!
Talking about today’s highlight of this article, the” Ritual” remix kick-starts with zesty and shuffling drum patterns – not to mention the singular focus on these and the booming bassline, which embeds a Tech-y and underground texture. The vocal materializes afterwards, proving companionship to the vibrant rhythm. Following the thumb-rule of including the main-hook from original, the elegant piano and the breakdown takes over to emanate more emotions. This however, does not lead to the interlude. With an adept and brief riser, the next drop segment proceeds with all the components, lead by a unique and resonating synth riff to enhance the stamina-levels. The merge of this said elements raises the bar, delivering the requisite horsepower with ease. While it is not overtly complex, the minimal approach and the refreshing concoction, all credits due to the “less-is-more” formula!
In conclusion, we can sure say that MOSKA’s remix packs a piquant punch. We will keep an eye out for this prodigious musician, as he has made us quite curious for his future releases!
