To finalize the Trilogy EP, Armin Van Buuren & Shapov have finally unleashed another record ‘La Resistance de L’amour’ (The Resistance Of Love). Just like the prequels, it has the resembling exquisite arrangements, though ‘The Last Dancer‘ stuck to the festival vibe, while ‘Our Origins‘ had a more of uplifting tone. This one rather executes with a driving and evolving feeling.

The production starts off with a classic club-y pattern, with an interesting groove going on. This advances towards an ambient breakdown, backed up by vocals (speaking French), although the voice resembles the one from ASOT, furthermore leading to a title in French. Like all Armin & Shapov team-ups, it is the breakdown which is the most groundbreaking. An arpeggiator enters during this segment, which keeps the listeners more captivated. This is then followed up by a build-up, along with the title vocals, which goes with the flow leading to a powerful climax. Keeping the intensive bassline, the elevating drop segment introduces the hooking melody. Even better, subtle elements materialize as it plays back, making it alluring and endearing.

After this, the next breakdown appears, continuing the story. This time, the Arp gets louder, as the peak time trance sounds approach. This is then followed by a similar build-up, finally leading up to the final drop. Even though it shares a similar structure, the involvement of more sounds makes it sublime. “La Résistance De L’Amour” finishes with a reminder of the past, combined with the atmospheric vibes, with the one and only title vocal.

As closing thoughts, this is arguably their unique and elaborate production so far. It brings back a lot of nostalgia, be it the late 90s, early 2000s or late 2000s. Each section of these tracks keeps on offering a new harmony. Armin Van Buuren and Shapov have proven their mettle yet again, so we hope to hear another fascinating collaboration soon.
