Manse & Cuebrick feat. IIVES – Runaway

March 22, 20192 min read

• Cuebrick’s debut and Manse’s comeback!
• Classic and elegant progressive structure
• Appreciable vocal by IIVEs

I’m so happy to see Cuebrick finally releasing a major Revealed song (in 2018 he produced the community release “Gargantua“), in collaboration with a guy that takes long breaks, but never disappoint in musical terms, Manse!

The German producer received a 90+ from me in January thanks to the splendid “Wonderful Days“, while the Swedish talent is an esteemed member of Hardwell’s label, with hits like “Freeze Time” and “Atlas“. He took a break in the last two years, but he’s on fire lately, with various intriguing free downloads.

So, we have two undisputed talents together with a brand new progressive house track, “Runaway” featuring the beautiful vocal by IIVES. I must admit that I liked it immensely, primarily because of the vibe that Manse’s classic breakdown gave me, it felt so nostalgic!

The Swedish producer infused “Runaway” with his signature sweet sound, but Cuebrick added that energetic elegance that I consider the icing on the cake. The melody entertains, the vocal does its job, the overall structure is catchy yet classy.

“Runaway” is more of a delicate piece of art than a song, something that feels fragile. Paradoxically, its solid structure works, thanks to the years of experience and the talent possessed by its creators.

I was hoping for a more aggressive and energetic second drop, honestly, because I felt that formula was slightly predictable and thus was unable to show Cuebrick’s real potential, but I’m happy to see some quality progressive on this label. It’s definitely a yes from me.
