Tiësto & Dzeko – Halfway There feat. Lena Leon

March 21, 20192 min read

• Tiesto & Dzeko back again
• Minimalistic vocal performance
• Trance & progressive vibes

Unpopular opinion here: I was disappointed by “Jackie Chan“. Such a colossal collaboration, one of the biggest hits of 2018, didn’t particularly convince me. I felt that the base didn’t show its full personality, but instead got stuck into the usual pop boundaries that I rarely appreciate.

However, a second, less publicized, with a less notorious vocalist, definitely got me (and many other fans). I’m talking about “Halfway There”, created by the dynamic duo Tiesto & Dzeko and the vocalist Lena Leon. Released by Musical Freedom, which has been on fire lately, “Halfway There” was exactly what I was hoping for when I read the announcement of “Jackie Chan”. The trance tune (with progressive house influences) keeps a calm facade, but it’s suitable for more dynamic environments. Someone compared it with the legendary “Apollo“, and I must admit that the main lead and the elegant breakdown may tickle some old memories. Lena Leon presented a minimalist performance, but I considered it as a nice add-on to the lovely breakdown.

We can easily recognize the old Tiesto trance sound in the lead and bassline, while Dzeko showed his progressive house experience with a solid structure. The overall result is simple, but effective, delivering captivating vibes genuinely and dynamically, and presenting two different styles altogether.

So, in conclusion, “Halfway There” amazed and convinced me. I’m sure that it won’t receive the same success of their previous hit, but it deserves some credit, at least from my side. Gorgeous collaboration.
