Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike x Armin van Buuren x W&W – Repeat After Me

January 13, 20193 min read

• Armin and W&W are unstoppable right now
• An “old but gold” second break structure
• Festival tune whose main purpose is interacting with crowds

Here I am again, reviewing another track from Armin Van Buuren and W&W, and it might be the third one in less than a month. Unluckily it’s not that they pay me actually, but they are in such a good moment that we can’t miss a single release of these guys. This time they also teamed up with one of our most loved duos, the technological bros. No comment needed.

Jokes aside, let’s start with the first break. We can see from the beginning that “Repeat After Me” is really festival oriented, because the whole break was made to interact with the public. As the title suggests, a synth plays some easy notes, that are repeated by a crow just after it. The concept reminds me of “Crowd Control”, which makes sense considering that both W&W and DV&LM where also the creators of that one. Then the synth plays a typical Armin melody, just before reaching a build up that was made 100% sure by W&W.

A pre-drop vocal leads us into the drop, where we can find powerful Big Room kicks and a signature lead from Armin & W&W. The melody is awesome and the level of energy is insane, being able to rock any crowd out there. After that, the second break deserves a special mention. I bet that DV&LM did this part, and it was a great move from them to rescue their old break structure, reminding us of some of their iconic bangers and suiting perfectly the overall concept of the track.

I used to love these big collaborations, because when there are so much people involved in a production the result tends to be a complex product with lots of small details. This one didn’t disappoint me, and I must admit that the sounds of each producer are easily identifiable. 2019 has just begun, but I’m sure I won’t be wrong if I say that “Repeat After Me” will be one of this year’s most relevant tracks.
