If you don’t know who Ryos is, you’re probably relatively new to the EDM scene. He’s produced some of my favorite tracks such as Where We Are and I’ll Be Gone in 2016, however, he only released one track each year in 2017 and 2018.
Starting 2019 on a bright note, Ryos returns to Revealed with a collaboration with vocalist Elle Vee. She’s well versed with the progressive house genre having previously worked with high profile artists including Slander and Wasback. Her voice has an angelic yet minor tone, which makes her lyrics all the more sentimental.
In this tune, Elle Vee starts the song off with a majestic topline, after which Ryos introduces the catchy melody (which he has a knack for making). The drop is quite dense, and the warm mids punch through the mix to bring the euphoria. The lead does a wonderful job of settling right in the backing chords, making for a perfect mix-down, which is really hard to find these days.
It’s the attention to detail in Ryos tracks that make them so phenomenal. I love the organic guitar he uses in the vocal sections; it really adds some emotion to the tune, and backs the vocals authentically. I’ve also noticed that some of the best buildups in prog house come from wet snares which fill the low ends of the mix too, as you can hear in this track. Another feature of this track which stands out is the breakdown which displays the melody backed by only some percussion. You hardly hear this in today’s progressive tunes, as most producers choose to introduce the melody under the vocals, to make it more subtle. However, I really enjoy this aspect, since you really get addicted to the melody in this section, making the track all the more catchy.
