John Christian – The House Is Mine

December 7, 20182 min read

79/100

• Unique drop synths
• Atmospheric breakdown
• Predictable schematics with twists

Making to the top of new Monday releases is from none other than luminary Dutch music figure John Christian, who has a solid reputation for his known electro hits. This record resonates with hulking energy, taking hints from the classic Big Room sound with creative twists embedded in right places.

Titled as “The House Is Mine”, it has been unveiled in leading label of Revealed Recordings. It hasn’t been much long since we last talked about a John Christian production. Recently remixing American talent Mandy Jiroux’s alluring tune “Running Out Of You”, the Netherlands native showed his versatility. This remix featured the charming vox with serene deep vibes, enhancing the subtleties. Previous to this was “The Trip”, which saw the Dutch producer experimenting with his signature and trademark.

However, with his latest single, he aims to offer an even more unique tune to listen. Initiating with strong kick and offbeat bass rhythm introduction, the first drop takes the lead with a snappy riser. Interestingly, the main synth-line keeps a unique tone, similar to screeching Dutch House synths. This heavy attribute of the drop serves dynamics, without sounding off the hook or mundane. Following this segment, the breakdown smoothly takes after the drop’s hiatus. Bringing in an atmospheric tone, this break brims with tension, using chiming plucks to create a trance-inspired melody. Even without many components, the breakdown easily manages to grab attention and power. Switching to the second riser, the final round of drop approaches with renewed vigour!

To conclude, “The House Is Mine” adheres to the old schematics, without compensating requisite potential in the instrumental.
