We’ve seen pretty much everything, but this release caught us by surprise. Woah!
Frontliner and Doorn together? And we don’t have a traditional song here, but one of his classics, “I’m The Melodyman“, an experimental hardstyle tune characterized by an unusual vocal structure!
The Dutch artist experimented with vocal chops years before they were trending, and this 2012 release is an underrated gem. In 2018 the Doorn boss in person, Sander Van Doorn, put his hands over it and dropped a great rework! We said that it’s strange to see such a name on his label, but wait; there is more. The remix doesn’t follow the usual Doorn house style but brings a grand progressive house track with an experimental touch. Shockingly unexpected.
SVD went a bit off our radars in recent years, we don’t listen to his old school house music, but this remix amazed us. The Dutch legend tapped the maximum potential of the already described vocal chops, keeping the original hardstyle atmosphere with the addition of a fresh, creative bassline. We can even dare to call it “dark progressive“, for its energy! Nobody was expecting it, especially after hearing the slow intro section.
“I’m The Melodyman” is a gorgeous song, but this remix is pure gold. Sander Van Doorn did everything right: he kept a balanced amount of hardstyle infused with progressive house, used a fresh bassline, added creativity and personality to an already creative structure, and left everybody, including us, with their mouth open. Damn.
