Paris Blohm ft. Paul Aiden – Alive

November 24, 20182 min read

63/100

•  Good vocal by Paul Aiden
•  Standard melody
•  His old structure, again and again…

Oh, Paris Blohm. He was a progressive house legend, but after that, he spent a few time trying poppish stuff. Luckily for us, he made a great comeback with progressive, and today’s choice is another example of a sound track of this genre.

This new composition is called Alive, and it features Paul Aiden (do you remember him from Fight Forever?). Again, he delivered a really good product, showing us that he works well with the American artist.

“Alive” starts with Paul singing almost acapella, starting to being accompanied by a powerful reese bass. The whole break has an atmosphere that is emotional and mysterious at the same time, which works pretty well. After that, a subtle build-up leads us into the energetic drop.

Here we have a classic Paris Blohm drop. The lead and bass are his old signature ones, but this time, at least in my personal opinion, the melody is not that great. I found it predictable, with the same structure we’ve heard too many times. I was happy when he came back to progressive with “Body High”, but I feel like these new melodies are not as emotional and enjoyable as the old ones. Colors, Demons, Left Behinds, Something About You… Although the sound design is pretty much the same, I miss those fantastic melodies. The “new” Paris looks like a tired version of the old one.

Of course, this is an alright track, but it’s far away from the best level of Paris Blohm. We hope to see him again making emotional masterpieces soon.
