Florian Picasso – Glitch

November 15, 20182 min read

83/100

• Hypnotic and atmospheric
• Hints of vintage progressive elements
• Serene breakdown, dynamic drop segment

Making an impacting comeback is the French talent Florian Picasso, who has ended his hiatus after eight long months of hard work. Returning to the major label of Protocol Recordings, he has yet again displayed his special skills in constructing intense grooves. This latest production has been named as “Glitch“, embedded with the signature Picasso sound and a progressive schematic.

A brief recap recalls us of Florian’s last two releases, “Obsession” and “Here With You”. The former was unveiled in leading Dutch label of Musical Freedom. This house track had heavy percussion beat shuffling along with vocal snippets. Something different, but nonetheless impressed us with creativity. After this, we saw Belgian DJ/Producer Yyes V release his collaboration with Florian. Titled as “Here With You“, this melodic song offered much of the signature from Florian, packed with alluring vocals and hypnotic drop. This Dharma Recordings release was the last one from him, as he went on a “studio hibernation” to come back with even more.

Starting with the instrumental, “Glitch” provides the listener with a dreamy & digital-ish effect throughout its playback. Taking hints from vintage progressive tunes, this track showcases chiming arp-sequences in the breakdown, while the atmospheric pad keeps the main components accompanied. Keeping the pace steady, this break segment elongates towards the drop with a calm riser. Hitting with uplifting energy, the drop takes the centre of attention with the same melody and rushing bassline, displaying vigour.

In overall, this a deserved come-back from Florian Picasso, as we anticipate eagerly to see his genuine creativity in the coming year!
