Cuebrick – Highlands

September 19, 20182 min read

81/100

• Released via Smash The House
• Builds up with elegance and rather lively
• Keeps the signature vibes, yet distinctive!

Revealing at the right time, we have a great production to talk about today. It is from the German producer Cuebrick, who keeps a reputation for his splendid instrumentals. Hailing for his melodic and dynamic style, we have yet another genuine work from him. Titled as “Highlands”, the strong influence of ethnic and signature sounds blend together for an energetic and intense playback!

One of the significant preceding release by Cuebrick in Revealed (via the sub label of Revealed.dj) was “Gargantua“, which surprised us with alluring vocal snippets in the breakdown and a storming drop, which further displayed the vigour associated with the distinctive sounds. This artist strikes out easily from many others, mainly for the elements he embeds. Specialising in progressive house, he adds a subtle twist with different sound design and schematics, making it catchy and exciting nonetheless. We could also briefly put highlights on his successful collaboration with Dutch heavyweight Jochen Miller, christened as “In The Dark“. The track which we just mentioned now, fairly describes how adept Cuebrick is with his productions!

Coming back to our topic, “Highlands” begins on an unexpected note. materializing with Scotland’s favourite “Bagpipes” as the main lead, the atmosphere elevates along with orchestral drums, progressing with elegance. Switching the pace, another trancy synth joins the league, evolving towards the supersaw play down. Once done, the massive instruments electrify the mood. At this point, the drop is imminent, making its own way right from the riser which fades away precisely for it to impact. Bursting in with all the previous components, the overall harmony adds up to fantastic levels, enhancing the subtleties to another notch!

Summing in few words, this release definitely deserves to be played more in the festival for its dynamism, keeping the listener anxious for the climax without losing any steam!
