Euphoric hardstyle… Not a common genre here at EDM Reviewer.
But a splendid genre.
I like hardstyle. It’s a world apart, a world that we don’t present here very much because it’s extremely difficult to describe and introduce a kind of electronic music that it’s completely isolated from the rest. In particular, euphoric hardstyle. It’s something I consider “magical”, it’s music to “feel”, not to describe and talk about. Also, it gives its best when heard live, in my opinion.
Today we have a fantastic exception. “We Are Infinite” delighted me and convinced to present it, because of three main reasons. First, this free download by Navion presents a heavy orchestral and trance influence, so we are near to our “usual stuff” in a certain way. And second, the composition is so good that I felt necessary bringing it to you. Definitively, a fantastic production!
And third, “We Are Infinite” is related to the ending of “The Perks Of Being a Wallflower”, one of my favourite movies (and books). Please, watch it, you will thank me later!
I will write in the first person, this time, as it usually happens with “emotional” (or should I say euphoric?) reviews. After the initial dialogue from the movie, an uplifting and frenetic melody begins playing. I loved how this Dutch talent mixed a delicate lead with a hardstyle complex melody, the overall effect is.. Mysterious. Then the lead begins to act aggressively, because we are speaking about hardstyle here!
In the massive drop, with a crazy kick and the same complex melody, we find again the lead… I loved that element, it’s at the same time really sweet and lightweight but still brings a lot of energy!
The second break is another work of art from this producer… The moments of silence, the melancholic violin that is playing, the escalating melody. Chapeau. Full of climax, vibrant energy and a unique personality.
It’s hard to review those gems, really hard. Navion impressed me with trance vibes, an important citation as main message, a fantastic kick and that hypnotic melody… But there is way more to say about “We Are Infinite”. You will find out listening to it.
