83/100

Only a few days have passed since we wrote a detailed article on Dharma’s latest release “ Moksha”. Boasting the heavy and intense genre of Hard-psy, this song acclaimed major appreciation. Today, we have another similar but hard-hitting track, made by the unexpected collaboration between Timmy Trumpet and Junkie Kid. Titled as “Toro”, it features an explosive combination of nailing kicks and screeching synths to snapping bouncy bassline. It released on Heavyweight Records (Owned by renowned artist Carnage), which launched around this time a year back.

Both of the producers in this team-up have excellent records.

The Australia-based Timmy Trumpet, as always, has been emphasizing on festival compatible productions. Specializing in Electro House, he has also shown equal interests to Psy-trance, hard bounce and other aggressive styles of dance music. This was perhaps best demonstrated back in the month of February, when the Aussie talent paired up with Vini Vici to deliver “100”. This particular song was not only a typical psy-trance tune, but also contain appropriate amounts of Hard Bounce. With this said, let us also talk about Junkie Kid. The Mexican hotshot released “Love Is Dead” on esteemed Revealed Recordings, and was soon endeared by many. Lately, we found ourselves admiring his latest album “Find Yourself”, which was perhaps a calculated but well-taken risk. The content featured experiments and versatility, escalating the hard music to another level. Thus, our readers can clearly understand that this team-up is a certainty of crafting a quality and genuine work.

“Toro” starts with triplet bassline style and punchy kick, clear indicators of psy-trance, but faster in this case. Pausing just moments after, the breakdown descends with a surprising but familiar element: the Trumpet. Playing a delectable and peppy melody, the trumpet leads this breakdown with precision. With a brief sweep transition, hardstyle distorted synths dominate over with a soaring melody. Hooking attention, it leads up to the riser which in turn transforms to the first drop. Bursting it with angry hardstyle kicks, the drop also supports the hardstyle synths from breakdown. But it halts again, swapping back the preceding segment. The trumpets play for the last time, as another riser hurriedly kicks in to rush towards the finale, which brings up the paced psy bassline, but this time hard synths complement it with another dirty hook, boosting the energy and stamina with this new variation and kinetic groove. The overall package strikes with more fierceness than one can expect!

“Toro” has the brilliant potential of wrecking its audience and has definitely added itself as another splendid record in uprising Hard music scene.
