2018 is full of surprises: “Get Down” enters, slamming the door, into the room of unexpected collaborations. The new Spinnin’ release contains a high amount of talent, please handle it carefully!
The Dutch Quintino (mainly an electro house producer but with a passion for trying new genres) and Curbi (stable boss of the Dark Future Bounce) teamed up for an unpredictable track!
“Get Down” has a generic title and a generic cover, sure… But that’s all. This collab fuses Quintino’s bouncy style and Curbi’s dark vibes in a great way, delivering some fresh sounds!
Since the beginning we find a classic Quintino acid lead, rising in an aggressive buildup. The drop mixes this lead with another one by Curbi, and the effect delighted us! Two different approaches, yet such a balanced result! It doesn’t pay off very much in terms of catchiness, for us, but it’s evidently a successful formula. It’s even more evident in the second drop, where the Curbi approach fits perfectly with Quintino’s percussions.
The overall result is a strong drop, perfect for clubs. “Get Down” presents familiar vibes in every section, the two producers worked well together.
Our main struggle is with the break, a bit too approximative and simple for the names involved, but “Get Down” is an experiment and we must consider it for what it is. This mix of electro house and future house (if we can consider like that the unique style of Curbi) works, and we are happy to see the young Dutch talent keeping evolving and manipulating his signature structure into new shapes.
It’s not the first time that Quintino collaborates with uprising talents, and we are glad that he decided to challenge himself like that. Curbi rarely does collabs, having a “dominant” style, but the results are usually great!
In conclusion, “Get Down” doesn’t completely excite us, but manages to be way more balanced than expected. Surely an interesting collaboration!
