Seven additions into his discography later, my curiosity towards Pablo Rindt, better known as Maddix, has grown more than ever. Trading his powerful and energetic Big Room sleeves for a dense blent of various genres, he has made it more than just attention-worthy. As I have mentioned in my prior reviews, I have been a passionate follower of him since the last four years of discovering his solo project, and his evolution towards this stage has been a real pleasure.
There is a recurring experience with his offerings, upon first listening, I usually tend to reject it. Thoughts such as “This isn’t my style” or “It’s not as good as his older signature” prove to be a constant conflict. But then, I slowly gravitate backwards to the production, listening to it on repeat. This stranger and involuntary compulsion seems to relapse every time. In layman’s terms, it is as if I favour his productions against my will. Despite that Maddix’s later works don’t possess the same amount of aggression and sheer power such as “BANG”, “Lose Control” or “Invictus”, there is an underlying charm which makes them fit for either festival or a club setting.
There are two qualities upon which I speculate are the reasons for this, with the foremost being the escalating tension in his numbers. Monotonous tonality often leads to loss in pressure, but with the mentioned personality, I have this eagerness to see what follows next. An intriguing paradox, on how predictability and stamina can exist within the same drop segment. This feature is most noticeable with “Tekno”, and his release previous Friday, “The Rave”. Albeit the two attributes are seemingly at odds with each other, Maddix has found a unique formula to make them work efficiently.
After this, the most discernible peculiarity is the solid grip on the flow. The alluring sway is simply too grasping and sitting still is almost near impossible during its playback. There is dominance within the beat, making it greatly danceable and rhythmic. Once again, the lack of polished explanation is present, and I can’t pin it on one particular element. It’s just.. there.
Whatever it is, the conclusion that the veteran Revealed member has no dearth of raw and authentic talent and skill set is undoubted. This new era of “Maddix 2.0” has kept me intrigued and captivated to ends, with my patience often running thin for his up and coming releases!
