Sometimes I ponder over how the modern Big Room scene would have been if Willem and Ward never touched it. Damn.
In the time span of 4 weeks, W&W released 3 top quality mainstage beasts in italo-dance inspired “God Is A Girl“; astonishing vocal trance/big room hybrid “Ends Of Time” (their first actual vocal release) with their NWYR alias and finally, on the 9th of April they unleashed the big room house jewel “Supa Dupa Fly 2018”.
The latter is what I define ‘huge‘. Personally, ‘SDF18’ was the highlight of Hardwell’s famed b2b set with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike at their Bringing The Madness: Reflections set back in December last year.
The song is a modern big room rendition of German duo 666’s Eurodance record Supa Dupa Fly, released back in 2001.
What escorts you throughout the 4 minutes release is an old non-sensical vocal that at first might sound silly; but at a further listen, I think W&W showed who’s the best at playing with vocals in the big room game.
“Supadupafly” and bang! You’re ready to really fly, or rather skyrocket, with an earth-shaking melodic big room drop. The odd synth they used in this part does its magic to create a fresh-sounding harmony ready to slay every dance floor around the world. I strongly believe this is one of the best drops of the year so far.
So simple yet so magnificent, ‘SDF18’ is the signal that W&W are ready to set their release schedule on fire with more of these high-quality festival weapons.
What do you think?
