Revealed Recordings have been unveiling energetic and vibrant progressive house productions in the past three months. This time, we are reviewing their latest release featuring the collaboration between the talented Dutch duo Syzz, and uprising young producer Reggio. Titled “Joker“, this dynamic production showcases attributes of electro house and progressive.
Both Syzz and Reggio have gathered reputation over the years. On one hand, the Dutch pair has been known for their aggressive electro-house sounds, like “Donut” and “Kolkata”. Lately, they revealed a striking electro house remix of Paris and Simo’s “Glow”, Again on Revealed. Reggio, however, has engaged his fans with his moody yet hard-hitting works, termed by the fans as “Dark Progressive”. Prior to this release, he had unveiled “Origins”, released in a Dutch label, TNC recordings.
Now, knowing the style and schematics followed by both the parties involved, we can discuss about this track in a precise manner. “Joker” has the energetic, spunky nature but without compensating the serious tone embedded. Starting with a percussion-heavy intro along with sharp bass shots, the intro escalates towards the breakdown. The following segment presents an intriguing melody, having a suspenseful tone underlying it.
Intensifying, the drop approaches with precision. Introducing rushing synths and bassline, the drop scores another point effortlessly. While the melody is a derivative of the one from breakdown, the vivid synths and the tone upgrades this drop. An assumption could be made that Syzz paid emphasis to the synths and sounds, while Reggio honed the melody with care, adding his usual emotional signature feel to it.
In overall, “Joker” relies on its sinew and power-play of its main stage friendly components, making this production imposing and genuine. There is some personality lacking in there (for example, we didn’t understand the relationship with the title), but, overall, a nice production for the duo.
