TV Noise, the formerly duo act, has been responsible for myriads of funky releases on record labels such as Spinnin’, Revealed, and many other top-performing imprints. This year has been no different, as the now singular Dutch alias has kept cranking tracks at an impressive rate!

Getting straight to business, “High Of The Dope” is a track that adheres to STMPD’s flair, fitting right into that glitchy Electro/Tech House terrain that would snugly fit into the energetic sets played by the label-head, Martin Garrix. It sets off with a lofty tech bassline, while creative vocal snippets bring in the rush of energy throughout the song. While the main player in the act, the distorted and biting low-end gives a snappy rhythm with an electro lead fulfilling the higher-end dynamics by working as a gritty layer. For the breakdown, there’s a brief transition by bringing a trap sequence while the final drop rushes back.

Although the notion of experiment remains on this track, it deviated from the classic TV Noise signature. Rather, it almost sheds away the near-eccentric and explosive sound design witnessed in “Lasers” or “Ratata”. Perhaps that chaotic influence was amiss on this. Plus, the shorter track duration (only 2 minutes) comes off as a rather abrupt experience.

“High Of The Dope” is one for the parties with the essential bass/tech house supplements, although falling short of the earlier ingenuity that TV Noise showcased.
