There is no denying of the fact that many interesting and well-crafted remixes can be found on the music giant website, Soundcloud. Being easily accessible to many talented new musicians for uploading their music, the website has plethora of creative remixes which go unnoticed at times. However, the other day, I came across a proficient remix of Jon Hopkins’s “Abandon Window”, done by a seemingly new producer Seeking Stars. At first, I speculated on how good the remix may sound, but upon hearing it, I finalized to write my thoughts on this remix.

“Abandon Window” is originally an ambient electronic production, released by English electronic producer Jon Hopkins. It was released as one of the eight songs of the “Immunity” album, which is supposedly Hopkin’s best work till date. This particular track drew attention because of its highly sentimental atmosphere, which progresses with a calm and serene way. With only a piano and uplifting strings and pads in the backdrop, the song presents myriad of emotions within a few minutes, making it lively and vivid to impressive extent.

Seeking Stars adeptly recognized the potential this tune had, and used it with precision. The remix starts with the original ambient mood, keeping the exact vibes. However, there’s more elements added to enhance the harmonics. Slow and faded drum beats intensify in the background, only to bring on a snazzy full abrupt stop to the beat. Continuing the breakdown, orchestral drums sweep in, and with a well timing, introducing a striking and melodic drop. The drop presents a whole new energy and vibrancy to the remix, with supersaw synths, striding along with a four by four kick. A genuine idea without any doubt!

Within a few words, it can be concluded that, Seeking Stars has done a wonderful job in revamping the original “Abandon Window” into something different, energetic yet intriguing and exotic.
