ELYS!AN – Archangel (feat. Meggie York)

December 18, 20202 min read

• Outstanding vocal companionship
• Delicate, emotional take on Melodic Dubstep
• Quality in drop that entertains with a slower pace

If you happen to follow us on Instagram, the name “ELSY!AN” may ring a bell. A couple of weeks earlier I shared a commendable Melodic Dubstep production from this American creator titled “Free Fall”, which has an explosive drop that immediately caught my attention. I wasn’t able to further explore ELSY!AN’s discography just in time, but promised to keep a track.

That’s why I’m here for today, proudly announcing the arrival of “Archangel” : a more relaxing craft than expected, but with an interesting message and music appeal! While “Free Fall” ravaged as a festival banger, this latest offering aims to show a deeper facet of the producer. Featuring an outstanding voice from Meggie York, it is accompanied by arrangements that adeptly blinks an eye to minimalism. The breakdown acknowledges with a stripped back performance of heartwarming piano and the vocal harmonies, while incorporating a Trance-y arp which opens up to the build-up segment. Once executed, the drop gushes in with bright and melodic saws, vibrantly intensified and radiating the brilliance withhold in the former portion.

In simpler words, “Archangel” slowly brings us to a voyage headed towards the success, represented by the complex drop performance at the “end of the tunnel”. Delicate and calming mood, yet capable of blasting energy at the required time. There were a couple of solos during this three minutes that left me in a magical aura.

It is my conclusion that “Archangel” has found just the niche in a genre, being very trending in US has usually a lot of predictable clichés. This emotional side however is enhanced by – I repeat – a fantastic vocal presence, which is quite refreshing to me even if used to Illenium inspired ideas. ELYS!AN has displayed his creative personality with brilliant assistance from Meggie York.
