The biggest collaboration of the week is the splendid “100”, created by two of the most important heavyweights of their respective genres. Vini Vici are dominating the trending psy-trance with a series of colossal collabs, while Timmy Trumpet… Well, saying that he is one of legends of Bounce is reductive, after hearing his experiments with psy-trance, hard bounce and big room. They teamed up with Symphonic (excellent vocalist) for this huge hit.
Anyway, “100” is the solution to all the problems we were talking about in the previous Vini Vici review. Their style is hypnotic, beautiful and interesting, but the structure is always the same. That’s the main weakness of “static” genres like psy-trance, you have to follow certain rules and the risk of creating “copies of copies” is quite high.
Luckily, we have two incredibly talented and experienced names here! Timmy Trumpet and his creativity were the perfect element for adding that unpredictableness we always want to hear.
The Australian genius added a vigorous dark bounce twist to the classic Vini Vici style, making “100” one of the freshest tunes around. As if the hulking trance basslines weren’t enough, the bounce rhythm added on top of it makes it dynamic. In addition, there is the atmospheric exotic chants by Symphonic, embedding even more catchiness. Even if it may seem slightly minimal with the choice of sounds, the well-chosen components are capable enough together.
Summing up, “100” showcases tenacity to another level with the psychedelic attribute giving it a notch further. Big names, great result.
