The mysterious duo “Far Out” just released an extremely interesting production this week! “Riot” delighted us with its unnatural atmosphere, its distorted and unpredictable feelings and of course its musical quality. Let’s begin by describing the duo.
‘Far Out’, in 2017, released some lovely future bass tunes. They are focused on emotional yet mysterious releases, melodic and interesting. Progressive house is not totally new to them, but “Riot” is a surprise. The X factor is that you can’t decipher its mood.
It’s like looking at the “Mona Lisa” with attention. Is she smiling? Is she sad? Who knows…
That’s the same for “Riot”. From a certain point of view, the aggressive bassline and the unreal break give a brutal twist to the tune like if you were in the middle of a wild riot. However, the progressive melody is positive and catchy, adding happy vibes to the dynamic drop. This contrast is not ruining “Riot”, but valorizing it instead.
‘Far Out’ managed to combine contrasting elements in a sensational way. It’s impossible for us to completely understand what’s going here, if the riot is against an evil dictatorship, or if there is a sort of “rhythm” in the violence. But we are sure that this will put you in a deep thought. ‘Riot’ is an unexpected little masterpiece of progressive house. Its structure is surprising and emotional. It’s a rare case when the essence of a song is even more important than its enjoyability for us.
