Shapov & Trouze – The Way (Remixes)

January 8, 20185 min read

Just a few months back, the eminent record label Axtone had released a catchy production, titled “The Way”. It has been produced by the renowned Russian talent Shapov and the Electronic trio Trouze, from the USA.  The release gave off chill and melodic vibes, combined with a gorgeous vocal from Jovany of Trouze. One of the best releases of the Axwell’s label in 2017, definitively!

You can listen to the original mix of “The Way” here:

To supplement the Axtone fan-base with the signature progressive style of Axtone, the label ingeniously announced the release of a remixes pack for “The Way”. The remix package includes the reworks of Marcus Santoro (Australia), Lucas Silow (Sweden), Pete K (Portugal), Tom Tyger (France) and finally Sini & RMA (Turkey). Needless to say that the results are impressive!

It also includes an acoustic version, which adds a charming aspect to this package. Suggested if you are a big fan of the Jovany’s vocal: perfectly valorized here!

Let’s talk about the remixes, one-by-one.

Marcus Santoro Remix [85\100]

The Australian artist Marcus Santoro has been known for his melodic and dynamic releases in labels like Enhanced Progressive. His productions mainly focus on the genre of progressive trance. In this remix, however, he has exquisitely experimented with progressive house! Here, he introduces a more atmospheric feeling to the breakdown, making it more emotional. Slowly escalating, exotic drop synths come up and take over. The drop is just fantastic: it begins with intense synths and a solid bassline, playing over a sublime melody. Overall, the drop pitches in loads of energy and emotions… That’s a well-done re-work by Marcus Santoro, indeed!

Tom Tyger Remix [76\100]

Hailing from Lyon, the adept DJ/Producer Tom Tyger is noteworthy for his releases like “Delano”, “I Need U” and “Axe”, to name a few. In his version, he has cleverly embedded an ear-catching upbeat to the whole track. Keeping a minimal breakdown, with few percussion and a dance piano, the energy is coming just before the brief transition to the break-beat drop. Equipped with the original vocal ad-lib supported with various percussions and drums, the drop inserts an experimental attribute in the overall track. Conclusion: this remix aptly gives a flavorful touch to the original “The Way”.

Lucas Silow Remix [73\100]

The Swedish artist Lucas Silow has done quite a neat and creative job for his remix too. He inducted a more down-tempo vibe to the original, making it more chill and laid-back. The breakdown feels more tropical and summer-ish in this version of the remix. Smoothly cruising over, the breakdown changes over to the drop which includes bright synth playing over a prancing melody with a chill/down-tempo groove in the backdrop. Summing up, this remix is a more relaxed and minimalistic version of the original, but nonetheless rhythmic and exotic.

Sini & RMA Remix [77\100]

This talented pair of producers from Turkey has proficiently included stamina and power in the original production. This remix infuses infectious and intense festival vibes, and transforms the original vibe into a much aggressive one, without compromising on the melodic side. The remix starts with the vocal with a piano underneath playing some notes coupled with pads and some claps to get things rolling. Approaching the riser, the remix steadily brings up the classical progressive house synths. The drop hits in vigorously, bustling with energy. Packed with a fierce melody, strong electro synths and a rushing bassline, the drop sweeps in the much-required stamina and competence. Here we can notice how the song has gained more stamina and energy!

That concludes our analysis. Axtone evidently has done a great job in the selection and provided an all-round remix assortment.
