GRAVEDGR – RAWSIDE Feat. Lit Lords

June 28, 20193 min read

• Balanced influences from both brutal styles
• Constantly evolving structure
• Maybe too aggressive for a daily tune

I am a bit green when it comes to being a hard trap listener. Thus the experience with “RAWSIDE” was shocking, at first. Beware of this brutal collaboration if your heart and ears aren’t ready!

Jokes apart, the insistence of our fans about a review of the new Heavyweight release is what puts us here. I like Lit Lords’ music, even though I’m no expert of the genre: bangers like “True Power” or “Creed” are in my playlist, and I’m always happy to show them off to my friends when they are looking for a powerful and noisy tune to blast in the car. GRAVEDGR is slightly too aggressive for my taste, but I’m fascinated by his demonic figurative and creations. Carnage has found a real talent.

The trio united their forces, and the result isn’t the relaxing tropical tune you were hoping for, but a devastating explosion of energy. A hardcore buildup introduces us to a dark, and slower than expected initial pre-drop, then GRAVEDGR clobbers the speakers with his typical structure. There are strong influences by Lit Lords (in the vocal, the drop’s samples, even in the mysterious mood of the break), but the producer has this unique, minimalistic melody capable of emphasizing aggressiveness which is impossible to ignore.

“RAWSIDE” isn’t melodic, it’s a pure concentrate of brutal and dark force, but it’s not predictable. Sudden changes in the structure, which constantly shifts between pauses, rhythm variations, vocal shots, make it non-linear and opulent with surprises. You won’t be bored by it, trust me.

Being honest, I was hugely entertained by “RAWSIDE”. Lit Lords and GRAVEDGR are two of the most exciting names in the hard trap world (or, at least in my limited vision), and their conjoined efforts crafted an excellent result. I still have the problem with the whole, hyperaggressive atmosphere; it’s too challenging for me to handle, “RAWSIDE” will never become a song I’ll listen to daily, it’s merely too disruptive… But I’m sure that, if heard live, will deliver tons of adrenaline.
