R3HAB and KSHMR seem to work well together: after “Karate” and “Strong”, their third collab “Islands” is finally here!
The two artists, after two years, returned to surprise with some good progressive. “Islands” focuses on bringing feelings to fans, with a structure that slightly reminds the notorious “Secrets” by KSHMR.
However, “Islands” is more introspective and emotional than predicted. A song that may not be as successful as the previous two collabs, but not a meaningless tune. The vocal, similar to Vassy’s one in “Secrets”, is nostalgic, melancholic and calm.
Its distortions are relaxing and elegant, a genial move by R3HAB!
His new “chilly” future bass style influenced the break part, while it’s evident that KSHMR worked on the drop. Talking about that part, it slightly disappointed us in the first moment.
It’s slightly too predictable, but after a while, you start to love the happy vibes and the bouncing bassline!
It seems “mainstream”, but the two artists managed to add that catchiness that makes “Islands” a really good tune! The melody becomes really hypnotic after few bars, the kick is on point, and that bassline is amazing!
“Islands” may not be the most innovative tune of the year, but it does its job. Especially after our disappointment with R3HAB’s album, it’s good to see that R3HAB still keeps his elegance, and working with another big artist like KSHMR always delivers delightful results!
