The Dutch duo Tom & Jame is back in Revealed with a fresh release, “In The Air”. Even if the romantic cover was indicating an emotional tune, my expectations were wrong.

“In The Air” is an underground electro house tune, with a hip-hop influence in the break and a classic Tom & Jame drop. It’s groovy, aggressive, with their signature structure.
Overall, the track is gorgeous, it manages well its hypnotic rhythm.

The distorted vocal uses its cyclical scheme in creating a strong buildup. The drop, smash and bounce with the T&J lead efficiently managed. The powerful bass is able to give an “underground” touch to that part, and this is even more evident in the breakdown.

That middle part is a fresh construction for the duo. The distorted vocal is brought up again, playing a rap part, while the heavy bass began to work. A minimalistic work, but very clever: with a good job on distortions and echoes, “In The Air” hypnotizes the listener, keeping the artists’ influence and being innovative at the same time. Simple but efficient, even if the vocal remains generic.

In conclusion, the tune brings some creativity to the electro. It’s a joyful surprise for Tom & Jame, back on Revealed after some 1 year. Sure, their previous Revealed release was “Rise“, one of the best progressive tunes of the year, uncomparable… But “In The Air” doesn’t disappoint. They really demonstrated to be extremely talented, once again.
