Eric Rodrigues is one of my favorite uprising talents out there. Super underrated, this guy is impressing me for years with his incredible versatility, creativity, and technical skills.
Everything he remixes, in particular, becomes gold. I reviewed his “Dhoom” and “Blackbird” bootlegs some months ago, and I recommend checking his masterpiece “Fearless” with Jeyday too!
His style is not clear, it’s usually electro house but Eric often experiments with big room, progressive house, and, in this case, hardstyle.
I must be honest, I wanted to review his “Focus” remix since two months ago, but I never had the time to do so. The original was a disappointment for me, but I wasn’t expecting any particular rework from anyone… It’s normal with Sick Individuals songs, I consider them very difficult to edit, because of their particular style. Well, Eric Rodriguez not only made a “Focus” bootleg, he even experimented with hardstyle, a new genre for him.
I must admit that I’m really satisfied. I’m pretty sure that it’s the first hardstyle creation from the Portuguese artist, and it went pretty well! The melody in the drop, in particular, is fresh (with a small progressive influence), happy and dynamic, I really enjoyed that part.
With one of the best bootleg ideas of the year, Eric picked up the high pitched lead of the old version, used it in a hardstyle way, and switching the aggressive and electric mood into an happy and melodic one! This double clash between dark-light and 128-150 BPM is amazing.
I really suggest checking Eric Rodriguez bootleg, in few words. It’s not my favourite at all, but probably the most creative and courageous of his collection. I can’t wait to hear more interesting music!
