Another interesting release from Madox!
The Dutch artist Rubayne dropped “Don’t You Say”, and I must admit that I dug it! It reminds me a “soft progressive” Maurice West style, interesting and catchy!
Sure, Maurice West produced a track with the same name, so this detail influenced my metaphor, but Rubayne still reminds me the Mainstage artist because of a couple of reasons.
First, the amazing lead in the drop.
I loved its dynamism, the acid but soft vibe, it’s clearly inspired by West’s one, but from a different point of view. More pitched, more dynamic, I wouldn’t call it “progressive lead”; because it sounds electro, but it’s really catchy. Sure, not the most creative sound in the world, but absolutely a good idea here!
“Don’t You Say”, in addition, features an amazing vocal, really appreciated… Uh, it’s the same of the “Don’t You Say” one, what a coincidence! Luckily, Rubayne used it in a clever way, deleting the useless high pitching, without vocal chops, and keeping the full version (while Maurice West only used 2 phrases, pitched in an annoying way).
Seriously, this track is like an alternative version of Maurice West track, and I appreciated it. Rubayne improved the tune (at least, in my opinion), adding his personality, a catchier melody, making the vocal more natural, and, in addition, transforming the mood in a better fitting one. Less “big roomish”, more “progressive”. Since there is a nice piano, a calm vocal, and a melodic magnetism, this style fits better.
There is, obviously, a lot of Rubayne personality! I really want to underline the melody, in particular! It goes around in my head, and together with this pitched lead, it can’t go away!
I really enjoyed “Don’t You Say”, and I hope it will be the same for you!
